Choir JumpStart

Mandatory orientation session for children in Grades 4-8 who wish to sing in the St. Michael Choristers in the Fall. Includes introduction to Voice for Life chorister training program.
Choose from one of the following sessions:
A. Thursday, August 5, 10:00 am - 12:00 noon
B. Thursday, August 5, 1:00 - 3:00 pm
C. Wednesday, August 11, 10:00 am - 12:00 noon
D. Wednesday, August 11, 1:00 - 3:00 pm

Offerings for Adults and Youth Grades 9-12

Beginning Gregorian Chant

An introduction to reading chant notation and singing the song that is native to the liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church. Learn some basic chants that are touchstones of the Catholic tradition, and come to appreciate the spirituality inherent in this sacred music. Some prior singing experience helpful.
Four successive Wednesday evening sessions:

Schola Gregoriana

The beginning of a small choir to sing Gregorian Chant at occasional celebrations throughout the year. Join for a term or for the entire year. Some prior singing experience helpful. The class Beginning Gregorian Chant (above) would also be helpful.
Sunday afternoon rehearsals conclude with a brief chanted service Evening Prayer (Vespers).

Individual Voice Lessons

Tailored to the needs of each student, individual voice instruction can range from beginning exploration of the singing voice and fundamentals of singing technique to coaching of advanced vocal repertoire.
Lessons scheduled directly with instructor.
Lessons are held in the Schola Cantorum (choir room). Enter through East doors (church basement level).
Fee for four (4) 1/2-hour lessons: $100
Fee for four (4) 1-hour lessons: $140
